Greater Cairo Waste Water Project
- Responsible Authority:Ministry of Reconstruction, New Communities, Housing and Utilities Organization for the Execution of Greater Cairo Waste Water Project (CWO)
- Financial Authority:The project is mutually funded by the Government of Egypt and The United State Agency for International Development (USAID)
- Location:West Bank of the Nile River
- Excavation Depths:Ranging from 1 to 9 meters below ground level.
EAC has contributed in this national project with a value of work exceeding 53 million Egyptian pounds. The works were distributed on ten different areas on the western bank of the Nile river. The work included the supply and installation of sewer gravity pipelines constructed at depths ranging from 1.00 to 9.00 meters below ground level.
The project met with certain pecularities in its cuicumstances. In most of the project locations the dwellings were badly constructed and were very sensitive to any dewatering or excavation. The streets were very narrow and reaching to 4 meters width. The existing septic tanks in front of the houses were very close to the pipelines path. EAC with its experience was able to deal successfully with all these circumstances.
